An Open Letter to Incoming Freshmen
Who will you become?
Dear Future Black Bear,

Gosh, I remember the days of filling out college applications, taking ACT’s & SAT’s, applying for scholarships, and trying to figure out where God wanted me to go to school! This may be the first time that you have ever had to make a decision like this. Everybody is giving you advice, and trying to figure everything out is overwhelming! To top it off, you are involved in every club and activity in your High School, and you are trying to enjoy your senior year!
We want to help, in any way possible. If you are considering UMaine, please let us know, because we would love to host you on your visit to campus. We would enjoy showing you around (you know, giving you the down low that the "official" tour will not show you), and putting you up near campus for a night or two. That way, you can really get a feel for what life at UMaine is like.
There are all sorts of activities going on around this ministry. We have weekly worship meetings, as well as parties, retreats, small groups and one on one bible studies as well as conferences throughout the year. You are welcome to join us for any event while you're looking around campus. If you would like, please consider coming with us to our fall retreat in Cape Cod, MA. Each year, several hundred students from across New England spend a weekend growing with Jesus and having a blast!

It does not matter what church you grew up in (if you went to church at all), we welcome all students to be a part of what God is doing through this ministry. We are not a church, but a ministry supported by Baptist churches all over New England and the United States for the purpose of knowing and encouraging you.
Maybe you have questions about a particular major, financial aid, or UMaine Hockey. Whatever your need, please do not hesitate to ask! We would love to help you however we can.
